The Universal Importance of Health and Fitness

It can be quite difficult to find something that almost everyone in the world has in common. However, the importance of health and physical fitness is a topic that brings people of all different kinds together.

With the holiday’s right around the corner, this is a time during the year when a great deal of people gain weight. With all of the right, decadent foods and desserts that these holidays provide, it is understandable.

However understandable it may be, weight gain is usually undesirable. If you are worried about the possibility of packing on a few extra pounds, there a few things to keep in mind.

First, it is important to establish that there are different body types just as there are different personalities. Some people are naturally thin, others have to work for it, and some are just naturally curvy. However, just because a person has a body type with more curves than others doesn’t mean that they are unhealthy or even unfit.

Now that this has been established, it is time to talk about different ways to achieve a state of being healthy and physically fit.

The first, and possibly the most important part of fitness are cardiovascular workouts. This can be done my running, walking, dancing, swimming, and many other ways.
Many people find running for prolonged periods of time to be not only difficult, but tedious and boring as well. This is where new and alternative methods of cardio workouts come in handy.

According to several different sources, Zumba is the hot new exercise fad that everyone is talking about. This method of exercising incorporates many different styles of dance and movement in to a fun and effective workout routine.

According to licensed Zumba instructor Shannon Sparks, there are multiple types of Zumba. These types include a more advanced level of dancing for those who have mastered the first level, and there is even aqua Zumba which is done in a pool and is brand new.

When physical fitness and health are involved, dedication is a word you will hear very often. However, a word you don’t hear often enough is “fun”. If you are considering participating in Zumba and maybe even becoming an instructor down the road, Sparks had this to say:

“As an instructor you have to be dedicated to helping others reach their fitness goals while challenging yourself to be a better instructor. I find it very rewarding because it helps me to become a better person. I become more energized to help others.”

Zumba could just be the perfect workout to burn off those extra calories from all those pumpkin pies.

For some people, that additional direction provided by having a teacher or instructor present is pertinent to their success when it comes to exercising. This is why you have people such as Zumba instructors and personal trainers.

Having access to a personal trainer isn’t essential, but it is immensely beneficial. Not only do they provide motivation to work harder and not give up, but they are a valuable source of knowledge.

As a personal trainer myself, I would say that this knowledge includes proper workout techniques, tips for a healthy diet, and the ability to help an individual form an exercise routine that will provide them with optimal results.

Personal trainer Robert Maury can personally attest to the impact that a trainer can have on your fitness, and even your attitude towards working out. Maury, 35, is a Pennsylvania native who has centered his entire life on fitness and health and has been a certified personal trainer for three years.

He was out of shape when he received his first training session. His trainer inspired him to dig deep within himself and find the motivation and dedication to work hard and keep going. This allowed Maury to develop profound desire to do the same for others.

After several training sessions, he went out and earned his certification as a personal trainer. “Since that first session, I have built my life around fitness. It is so fulfilling to know that I am helping people change their entire lives. Fitness isn’t just a hobby; it really is a way of life,” said Maury.

Another excellent way to get some exercise and eliminate that holiday weight is to participate in a sport. There are many different options when it comes to sports.

You can play at a collegiate level if possible, but there are also intramural sports that are usually organized through a community center or even a neighborhood school.

These are excellent options because participating in a team sport with other people allows a person to socialize as well as exercise.

Adrian Robinson has been an assistant coach for a little league football team in his home town of Ashburn, Virginia for six years.

“All too often, we see kids gaining weight and getting out of shape at such a young age. They become stagnant because they aren’t involved in any activity that requires movement. As adults, it is our job to nip that in the bud,” Robinson said.

One of the main reasons that Robinson coaches is so that he can be involved in helping children stay active, and make sure that he stays active himself.
