Liz Atwood spent 22 years as a reporter and editor for The Baltimore Sun before coming to teach at Hood College. She received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from West Virginia University, a master’s degree in history from the University of Virginia and a doctorate on public communications from the University of Maryland College Park.
She teaches News Writing, Advanced Reporting, Online Journalism, Mass Media and Society, and Mass Media and Revolutions.
She is interested in how the news media participate in and help shape political and social revolutions. Her latest research is on segregationist editor James J. Kilpatrick.
