College Writer, Dreamer, and Wonderer of the World
My name is Samantha Helmold and I am a current junior at Hood College in Frederick, MD. I am currently studying to become a Communication Arts major with a double minor in Journalism and Management. My overall goal in life is to one day work at Vogue, The New York Times, or The Chicago Tribune as a feature writer.
I have lived in Frederick, MD for 20 years and will most likely stay until I finish my degree at Hood, then move onto bigger and better things. I have the biggest dream of getting my master’s degree in either Communications or Journalism overseas and continuing to travel and see the world, one country at a time.
I am currently the assistant editor of our school paper, The Blue & Grey and I also write for them as well. I work along-side some of the most wonderful people who help make the paper come together and I love working as a team to get to the best end result possible.
During the summer of 2013, I participated in the UNESCO International Model United Nations camp, where I was given the opportunity to work with over 130 different students from 27 different nations. This is where I was given the opportunity to write for an online EMagazine, www.heliophon.org. I continue to write feature stories for them, when given the chance.
