Burning Ring of Fire

IMG_1763Hood students were shocked on Tuesday to notice a giant circle of fire burning in the mountains.

Reported to have taken place in Gambrill Mountain by the Frederick News Post, the circle of fire was clearly visible from campus. Many students first noticed it by the fountain, and later relocated to the back of Gambrill gym for a better view.

“Sixty firefighters worked for two hours late Tuesday night to bring a five-acre brush fire under control on Gambrill Mountain,” reports the Frederick News Post.

The fire was present for at least over two hours, and vehicles and helicopters reporting on the scene were visible from the school. According to the Frederick News Post, no people or houses were injured.

At this point, the cause of the fire is unknown. Because of its shape, it can be concluded that it was definitely man-made, but information on who exactly created it is still unavailable.
