Hateful Note sent to Hood College Student

By Elena Rowe

A note with defamatory language was slid under a resident’s room door, according to an email sent by President Andrea Chapdelaine on Wednesday.

According to the email, the incident was reported to Campus Safety, who then filed a bias incident report and began an investigation.

“I stand steadfast in ensuring you that we will not tolerate incidents of hate, bias or bigotry in our community,” Chapdelaine said. “We will take immediate action to remove the individuals from our community once they have been identified.”

Similar incidents have occurred on campus in the past year, and a few weeks ago racist stickers were posted around campus.

Anyone who knows more about this incident should contact Chief Maynard at maynard@hood.edu or call 301-696-3546. His office is located on the 2nd floor in Whitaker Campus Center.
