Swifities swarm to see the “Eras Tour” Movie

by Luke Sisco

Swifties took the movies by storm at the “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour,” which provides a concert experience in the theater. While the imminent popularity of the movie was apparent to fans, nothing could have prepared the staff at the movie theaters for the stressful era they were about to enter.

The movie encouraged viewers to come to the theater in their best Taylor Swift outfit and stand, dance and sing throughout. I am lucky enough to work at the theater Warehouse Cinemas, a luxury movie experience with a bar. I’ve been bartending there for almost three years now and in all that time, I’ve never seen an opening weekend as busy as this.

At Warehouse, we create cocktails to go along with each movie, however for the “Eras Tour” we decided to also make a mocktail. A mocktail is a non-alcoholic version of a drink that anyone can purchase. This led to not only everyone 21 years-old and older coming to the bar, but an unbelievable number of kids wanting to pair the Taylor Swift drink with their movie experience.

If I had to guess, I would say I made over 500 Taylor Swift drinks during opening weekend. That usually isn’t a problem for a bartender, making drinks is the core of the job. However, the Taylor Swift drink is no ordinary drink. It is a cotton candy-flavored frozen drink garnished with…cotton candy.

Yes, cotton candy goes on top of the drink, not the usual cherry or lime wedge, cotton candy. Words cannot describe how messy cotton candy gets behind a bar. While the drink was messy, sticky and a bit of a process to make, the fans seemed to like it. My relationship with cotton candy is not a love story, however we don’t have bad blood; it’s rather perfectly fine. I’m glad to have been able help give Swifties an enchanting experience.

It was a truly memorable weekend for everyone involved. The Eras Tour opening weekend will go down in Warehouse Cinemas history for evermore.
