Hood College hosted the annual club fair on Aug. 26 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Hundreds of students came to see what clubs Hood is offering this year.
Some of the clubs at the event included the Black Student Union (BSU), Math Club, and Queer Student Union (QSU), among others. Representatives from 33 clubs attended the club fair. Some off-campus resources were also present, such as job opportunities in downtown Frederick.
Clubs are looking for even more student involvement now that residents are back on campus. Most of the club activity is going back to the way it was before the pandemic started.
Many clubs had poster boards to display what their clubs had to offer and to try and get the attention of the students passing by. Many clubs gave out free T-shirts, candy, buttons, stress balls, and more.
Club representatives talked with students who stopped to learn more. The representatives explained to them what their club is like and why they should join.
The building quickly became loud when more groups of students entered the building, excited to see what was to offer.
“First semester we didn’t have a show, we would just meet every Wednesday and practice,” said Dorian Young, co-captain for the dance ensemble. “During the spring semester, we did have a show and we went back to normal besides the masks and social distancing.”
