Hood College welcomes new staff to campus

Ashley Coen is joining Hood as an assistant Professor of education

While students were enjoying their hard-earned summer break, Hood faculty and staff were hard at work preparing for the new fall semester and school year.

 In addition to welcoming more than 400 new undergraduate students to campus, Hood brings 13 new professors in 11 different fields this fall.

The new professors are: Aaron Angello, assistant professor of English; Ashley Coen, assistant professor of education; Tim Coffin, visiting assistant professor of computer science,;Jacqueline Dougé, assistant professor of nursing; Yanting Guo, assistant professor of biology; Stephanie Masters, assistant professor of psychology; Kimberly Morse Jones, associate professor of art history; Jacob Muldowney, assistant professor of studio arts; Evelyn Nieves, assistant professor of nursing; Nicole Pullchene, professor of humanities; Cheng Qian, assistant professor of computer science; Adelmar Ramírez, visiting professor of Spanish; and Naeem Shalkh, visiting professor of social work.

There are also eight new academic affairs staff members who will be working behind the scenes to help students succeed.

They are: Marissa Bleller, access services librarian; Caitlin Duke, library technician; Sarah Fisher-Burke, enrollment coordinator; Haroun Hallack, Frederick Food Security Network manager; Myron Mansfield, ROTC; Shella Pierre-Louis, nursing lab instructor; Camella Rubalcada, dean of Student Success; and Stephanie Snyder, NeighborHOOD Counseling Training Center.

Three professors are on sabbatical. Katherine Orloff, associate professor of journalism, and Tamelyn Tucker-Worgs, associate professor of political science, will be absent for the 2023 fall semester. Christy Graybeal, professor of education, will be away for the entire academic year.

Two Hood Professors retired after last year– Laura Moore, professor emerita of sociology and Griselda Zuffi, professor emerita of Spanish. Moore and Zuffi had nearly 50 years of experience combined.
