Hood College students on Wednesday again walked out of class in protest of Israel’s attack on Gaza.
The event was organized by a group of students under the name Frederick College Students for Palestine and was advertised via social media, word of mouth, and posters across campus.
At 12:15 p.m., students walked out of their classes as a sign of protest and met in front of the chapel. From there, students began passing out literature related to the event and signs that had a QR code that contained a petition to call for Hood College to make a statement on the issue.
Several speakers stood on the steps of the chapel, speaking about the war in Gaza and their perspectives in front of the crowd of students, faculty, and staff.
From the chapel, students marched across campus to Whitaker student center with Palestinian music playing, where students sat and began chanting a variety of Arabic and English chants in support of Palestine.
The march continued to Baker Park where more speeches were given.
The event marked the second time Hood students had walked out of class as a show of support for Palestinians in Israel. The first occurred in November when about 100 students left their classes to protest.
