Grille Works offers new breakfast menu, keeps price hikes quiet

By Maggie McGill

A new year promises new changes, and The Blazer is no exception as it debuts new menu items and slight price changes.

This semester, Grille Works at The Blazer is offering new breakfast items and combos for affordable prices. The breakfast menu will now include à la carte items including French toast, pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage patties, and grilled ham steak.

Some of these new items can be combined to take advantage of the new “Pick 4” breakfast combo, which costs $5.99. Other items included in the new combo include hash brown patties, a 16-ounce coffee, and a 22-ounce fountain drink.

The previous breakfast menu will be served in addition to these new items. Breakfast is served Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. −11 a.m.

Changes to the menu also include slight price changes in sandwiches and combo meals.

The prices for the Angus Burger, Crispy Chicken sandwich, Chicken Tenders, Shoestring Fries, and Grilled Chicken sandwich have increased by 10-30 cents. The option to upgrade to a combo meal has risen from $2.90 to $3.00.

Junior Amber George is new to the Commuter meal plan, and was surprised by the lack of notification of these prices changes. “Because this wasn’t a widely publicized event, I have to wonder why the prices were increased, and what purpose they will serve the college,” George said.

Hood College Dining representatives were not available for comments.

These changes are small but could result in Blazer Bucks disappearing more quickly than before, especially for students on the Commuter plan or 10-meals plan.

Grille works is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-11p.m. and Sunday from 7p.m.-11p.m.
