The Warehouse Cinemas experience

By Genesis Lemus//

Due to the pandemic, the movie theater business has died down, but the overall experience has not changed as much as one would think.

Warehouse Cinemas in Frederick has recently opened for business and has adjusted its theater to align with CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

It was an awesome feeling to be able to walk into a movie theater again, but there were not nearly as many people as you’d expect to see considering that the tickets are fairly cheap.

Sanitizing stations were positioned at the entrance and social distance stickers were taped to the ground. The really neat part about Warehouse Cinemas is that it looks like an actual warehouse, so it is very spacious, and it does not make it difficult to social distance.

Warehouse Cinemas also had its grand opening during the pandemic, so it was able to plan and adjust to the protocols.

Because of capacity restrictions, the theater encourages people to purchase tickets online and the website shows which seats are reserved for social distancing.

Warehouse serves more than just movie theater snacks, and all the food is served in to-go containers. I ordered the Golden Mile nachos and fried Oreos.

As far as prices and food quality go, I think it is way too overpriced for the quality of food. The nachos were $14, and the quality was not great. The fried Oreos were almost $9 for a five-piece decent-tasting dessert.

The theater itself was very empty with about eight other people in there with my friends and me. We had the whole row to ourselves and the distance between each row was already about six feet because of the reclining seats, which also had seat heaters.

Masks aren’t required if you’re eating, but otherwise, you should keep your mask on during the entire movie.

Warehouse offers retro nights where movie tickets are only $5 for older movies.

Prices for new movies range $10-$15.

Overall, the experience was just about the same as it was prior to the pandemic. If you’re looking to watch a movie, I would recommend Warehouse Cinemas. My rating overall would be 8.5/10.
