April Book Sale Preview

The Beneficial-Hodson Library at Hood College will host the biennial book sale starting on April 23 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The sale will continue throughout the week, ensuring ample opportunity for avid readers to peruse its extensive offerings.
Library director Toby Peterson emphasized the significance of this event, highlighting its roots dating back to 2000. “Despite interruptions for renovations and the challenges of the pandemic, the book sale has remained a beloved tradition within our community,” he said.
With categories spanning from art to sociology, and even newer additions like ethnic studies and gender studies, the sale promises something for every literary taste, he said. The shelves are stocked with diverse and intriguing titles, including not only books but also media, puzzles and games from donations both within and outside the Hood community.
Peterson also stressed the importance of affordability. With prices set at $2 for hardbacks and $1 for paperbacks, the sale will be accessible to all. “It’s more than just a fundraiser,” he said. “It’s a celebration of knowledge and community.”
The sale serves as a cornerstone for the library’s outreach efforts, aligning with institutional initiatives like SPIRES. Events such as the Conference Poster Workshop and Research Party provide valuable resources and support for students navigating their academic endeavors, he said.
